Flagging and PvP rules
In an open PvP zone, use Caps Lock or the PvP button to raise or lower your flag. The flag controls whether your attacks can hit other players. It does not make an unflagged level-30-or-higher character safe from another player's attack.
Flag controls
| Rule | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Raise the flag | Character level 30 or higher |
| Time to raise the flag | Immediate |
| Lower the flag outside combat | Immediate |
| Lower the flag after giving or taking a PvP blow | Wait 60 seconds after the latest blow |
| Lower a red villain's flag | Not allowed while the character is a villain |
| Damage given or taken by a character below level 30 | Refused by the open-zone referee |
| Level-up warning | Advancing from 29 to 30 asks for confirmation; Not yet keeps the level owed |
Skulls
| Mark | Meaning |
|---|---|
| No skull | Unflagged |
| White skull | Flag raised |
| Gold skull | Flag raised and in the combat lock |
| Red skull | Villainy is at least 5,000 |
Flagged players also show health and Shield information. Party members and recent opponents remain visible through the name-display rules; do not rely on an absent ordinary nameplate as protection.
Safe passage and party protection
| Protection | Rule |
|---|---|
| Walking into the zone across its actual edge | Up to 60 seconds of safe passage when eligible |
| Time outside the zone required for a new entry | At least 30 seconds |
| Time without giving or taking a player blow required for a new entry | At least 60 seconds |
| Teleport, building exit, dungeon exit or respawn | Does not grant entry safe passage |
| Attack another player or take from remains | Ends safe passage |
| Leave a party | A 10-minute mutual truce with the former party members |
| Store items after a player fight | Storage remains locked for 60 seconds after the latest player hit |
A crossing must be an actual nearby step from outside the zone. Reconnecting or crossing an internal map cell does not renew safe passage.
While flagged outdoors
| Action | Rule |
|---|---|
| Cast spells | Use the PvP spell bar |
| Existing ordinary PvE buffs | Removed or suppressed, including worn-item buffs |
| Equipped enchantments after lowering the flag | Restarted |
| Rest or wait | Disabled |
| Ride a mount | Dismounted; mounting is refused |
| Levitate | Disabled |
| Maximum movement speed | 11.71 m/s |
| Maximum jump height | 1.6 m |
Permanent effects and the duel/toolkit's own effects have their own exceptions. Removed self-cast PvE buffs are not restored merely by lowering the flag. Prepare your slots before flagging and keep the route to safe settlements in mind.
