Searchable containers

Coffins, sarcophagi, shelves, dungeon headstones, chests and crates have their own search rewards. They use the tables below, separately from Dungeon treasure tables and Enemy loot tables.

Search outcomes

Each search rolls one outcome. Opening a lock does not guarantee loot. Outdoor graveyard headstones use the reduced chances in the last column; a headstone inside a dungeon uses the ordinary dungeon chances.

Outcome Dungeon chance Graveyard chance
Items found 1 in 3 (33.33%) 1 in 6 (16.67%)
Ambush 1 in 3 (33.33%) 1 in 6 (16.67%)
Nothing valuable 1 in 3 (33.33%) 2 in 3 (66.67%)

Loot table by object

A successful search chooses 1–4 entries, including one gold stack. Each extra entry draws from its object's categories below. Percentages are rounded and describe a category draw, not the chance of that item on every search. Shelves give potions half the category draws; a chest gives each of its six categories equal weight.

The same category can be drawn more than once. Weapon draws exclude ammunition.

If a category cannot make an item, the game tries another draw, up to four attempts for that entry; a find can therefore contain fewer than the selected number of entries.

Equipment then follows the place’s treasure-pile rarity rules, including Luck and dungeon family. These are item finds, not crafting recipe drops.

Gold and quantity

Gold is 6–18 per effective character level on a successful search. Shared dungeon finds use the room's loot terms; the examples use the level supplied to that find. The gold stack counts as one entry, leaving 0–3 additional items.

Example Minimum gold Maximum gold
Effective level 1 6 18
Effective level 10 60 180
Effective level 20 120 360
Effective level 50 300 900

Locks and ambushes

Kind Ambush enemies Lock chance
Coffin Undead Never
Sarcophagus Undead Never
Shelf Undead Never
Graveyard headstone Undead Never
Chest Dungeon roster; undead if no suitable roster 1 in 3; lock level 1–15
Crate Dungeon roster; undead if no suitable roster 1 in 3; lock level 1–15

A search ambush brings two enemies per nearby party member. Only the first can be Elite: it has a 50% Elite roll when Elites are allowed, online from Renown 5. Close the search message before the ambush appears. Chests and crates exclude water-only enemies from their ambush roster.

An object becomes searchable again after 5 game hours, about 25 real minutes online. Resting does not advance the shared online clock. Search finds belong to the searcher's party. Stand within about 1.6 m of the object's box. Quick Loot takes the find without opening the inventory window.

See Searchable container farming routes for mapped circuits and Loot table index for other reward sources.
