Player Combat

Fighting with two hands

Equipment Pairing
Two one-handed weapons Can pair blades, daggers, maces, flails, hammers and axes
Pistolets Two Pistolets, or a blade and a Pistolet
Bare hands Both fists fight
Shield, two-hander, bow, staff or carried torch Leaves you single-handed
Thunderlock Never paired
Rule Effect
H Selects the lead hand when both are armed; swaps hands when only one is armed
First strike Uses the lead hand
Alternation window A strike within 0.75 seconds of the last ending uses the other hand
Off-hand damage 0.8× rolled damage
Off-hand accuracy Small to-hit penalty
Off-hand handling Weapon feels 1.5× heavier

Compared with one weapon, a matched light pair deals about 9% more damage per second; a longsword pair about 4%. Dual wielding gives up a shield’s armour.

Ready a spell beside a one-handed weapon to alternate weapon attacks and spell casts. A reloading Pistolet passes the trigger pull to the other hand; see Firearms.
