Mining — Where to dig

Mountains and deserts are miner's country, while swamps and rainforests are barely worth the walk. The table gives the veins and boulders each square of the map stands per day in each climate, and what they can hold:

Ores are listed from commonest to rarest.

The easy ores come up far more often than the rare ones. To check a spot before you walk there, point at open ground on the held map (M). Its Ore here card lists what the veins there can hold.

Jewellers set every gem, and Turquoise, Malachite, Amber and Diamond also go into potions. The graded socket gems, Chipped to Perfect, are loot and can't be mined.
