Skill training

Skill training buys practice from a guild or temple trainer. Choose your skill below, then use Guild training to find a matching hall and a checked example location.

Taking a lesson

  1. Enter the guild hall or temple and speak to the NPC who offers Training. Trainers are service NPCs inside the building; a quest giver or shopkeeper may offer a different service.
  2. Select a skill and read the quoted gold cost. Guild training requires membership; temples also teach non-members.
  3. Pay for the lesson. It adds practice and advances your character's clock. Rest or finish a journey when the skill is ready to increase.

Lesson rules

Rule Value
Time spent 3 game hours per ordinary lesson
Next lesson 12 game hours after the previous lesson started; normally 9 hours remain after its 3-hour session
Cooldown scope Shared by all trainers and skills on that character
Skill eligibility Permanent skill of 50 or less; a skill above 50 is refused
Equipment bonuses Do not change the permanent skill value used for the training limit
Result Practice toward an increase; a lesson does not guarantee an immediate +1
Fatigue The lesson consumes fatigue; recover before returning to danger

At exactly 50, the trainer still accepts a lesson. This is an eligibility limit, not a guarantee that every lesson raises the skill to a particular number. See Improving skills for rest checks and skill caps.

Training costs

Access Base cost per character level (gold) Membership requirement
Guild member 100 Membership of that guild
Temple member 100 Membership of that temple
Temple visitor 400 No membership required

With the default Refined Training and Variable Training Price settings, lower skills cost less. These are calculated examples for a level-5 character at a hall with no chapter price adjustment:

Permanent skill Member lesson (gold) Temple visitor lesson (gold)
0 250 1000
10 300 1200
25 375 1500
50 500 2000

Turning Variable Training Price off uses the full base price. A hall's chapter can also change the quote through chapter strength, training doctrine or patronage. Use the displayed price when choosing between halls.

Intensive Training is an optional setting that is off by default and disabled online. When enabled, it is offered only below skill 46. It adds four permanent skill points, advances four days, then performs an ordinary three-hour lesson. For the level-5 member at skill 25 above, the calculated intensive price is 2,435 gold. The button is labelled 5 Days; it occupies four days plus the final three-hour lesson.

Trainers by skill

Every ordinary skill has at least one trainer. The first four guilds require membership; every temple listed also accepts visitors. Trainer locations gives the building, town, region and map coordinates for each organisation.
