Selling loot

  • Compare actual offers. Shop quality, Mercantile, Personality, regional prices and Town Prosperity affect what you receive. A better-quality shop can pay more for the same item. Prosperity near 50 gives the best town sale modifier; either extreme reduces it by up to 25%.
  • Sell gear as found. A smith's paid repair adds nothing to its online sale condition. Your own repairs add only a third of their improvement. Paying to repair stock for resale usually loses money.
  • Use free identification when available. Mages Guild identification is free during the Witches' Festival; an Identify spell is another option. Check valuable gear before selling it cheaply.
  • Check the Market for valuable finds. Include its 6% total fees and the possibility that an item will not sell. Use salvage for shards when that is more useful than the gold offer.
  • Bank frequently. Normal online death takes 10% of carried gold. Coins also weigh 1 kg per 400 gold; a letter of credit avoids that weight for a 1% fee.
