Naval combat — Boarding and prizes
Press Interact within 32 m of a surrendered ship. Captain's Stars can extend this range. You can board at any speed: grapples pull the ships alongside while your sails lower and your ship slows to a stop. Defeat its captain and at least 70% of its defenders to capture it.
Ships cannot ram one another; collisions cause no ramming damage and do not lock the hulls together.
Choose cargo in the prize window, then select an additional benefit: repairs, ammunition or replacement crew. Repairs restore 40% of hull and sails; recruiting restores 60% of crew losses.
Finally, scuttle the vessel, abandon it or claim it. A claimed ship retains its damage, has no crew and is worth one quarter of its usual base price.
