Family modes

At Character creation you choose Enduring or Bloodline (permadeath). Online the question has a third answer, No lineage, which founds no house at all; offline the mod's own switch in Features does that for every character. The Family tab shows the tree, your House and a Hall of Ancestors.

Lineage Death outcome
Bloodline Death is final. Continue as a living blood relative or newborn heir; if nobody remains, the line ends and goes to the Hall
Enduring Pay Arkay’s toll in years of life and rise as usual
Enduring rule Value
Toll per death 4%, 6% or 10% of the race’s lifespan; see Races
Age Also advances as you play
Elder threshold Three-quarters of the lifespan
Retirement An Elder can retire at any time
Lifespan exhausted The next death is final
Vampires and werewolves Pay no toll
