Ships — Buying and selling
Ships can be bought from shipyards and Banks. A bank ship provides a furnished interior and storage; choose a shipyard vessel if you want to sail. Captured ships can also join your Fleet; see Fleet management.
Buying a ship
| Vessel | Seller | Base price (gold) | Delivery | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rowboat | Shipyard | 4,000 | Parts in your inventory | Launch from your pack beside water |
| Large Boat | Shipyard | 8,000 | Deed in your Fleet book | Bring the ship to the quay at its purchase port |
| Small Ship | Shipyard | 100,000 | Deed in your Fleet book | Bring the ship to the quay at its purchase port |
| Carrack | Shipyard | 150,000 | Deed in your Fleet book | Bring the ship to the quay at its purchase port |
| Large Galley | Shipyard | 200,000 | Deed in your Fleet book | Collect it from its purchase port; too large to moor at a quay |
| Bank ship (small) | Bank | 100,000 | Furnished interior with storage | Buy at a bank in a port town; one bank ship at a time |
| Large Ship (bank) | Bank | 200,000 | Furnished interior with storage | Buy at a bank in a port town; one bank ship at a time |
| Carrack (Admiralty) | Harbour board | 120,000 | Deed in your Fleet book | Commodore or higher; 20% below the Carrack's base price |
Shipyards are found in coastal cities, towns and villages. Their asking prices depend on Mercantile and Personality. Bank prices are fixed. See Ships — Ship statistics to compare hulls, crews and armament, and Sea contracts and trade for Admiralty rewards.
Selling a ship
| Vessel | Buyer | Valuation |
|---|---|---|
| Purchased shipyard vessel | Shipyard | Recorded purchase value, half the gold spent on refits and hull condition determine its worth before the trading offer |
| Captured vessel | Shipyard | Starts with a recorded value of one quarter of the hull's base price, then follows the same refit and condition rules |
| Bank ship (small) | Bank | 85,000 gold |
| Large Ship (bank) | Bank | 170,000 gold |
Damage reduces a shipyard vessel's valuation to between 60% and 100% of its undamaged worth. Online shipyard offers are capped at half the lowest asking price.
Before selling at a shipyard, bring the vessel to that port, empty its hold and return any crew accompanying you ashore. Leave the helm and finish any combat; another player aboard also blocks the sale. Bank sales pay into your account. Ships brought into an online realm through customs can be kept, but cannot be sold there.
