Hunting — Skinning a body

You must land the killing blow to skin a body, whether with a weapon, arrow or spell. A party member’s kill can still be looted.

Condition Skinning allowed
Wilderness Yes
Dungeons Yes
Buildings outside settlements Yes
Settlements No
Sea No

Eligible bodies glow and have rose compass marks within 150 m. They do not appear on the Overworld.

Look at the body and its list offers Skin the Rat and Search the Rat, or whatever you've killed. Press Interact (E) to skin, or the Up arrow to move to the search, which opens the ordinary loot. Skinning leaves the loot where it was, so search afterwards. If the animal needs a higher rank, the prompt tells you.

A dotted trace crosses the carcass, with five points on a rat and up to nine on larger animals. Step back if the line is hard to see.
