Outfitting

Outfitting makes leather armour, clothing, furnishings and Fishing-Nets. Use a Clothing Store's loom and tanning rack to refine hides and fibres, then craft the finished items.

Outfitting covers 76 garments, seven leather armour pieces and household furnishings. Garments can use Linen, Wool, Silk or Standard-bearer's Silk and ten dye colours. You can also temper found leather armour and clothing. Smithing uses the Cured Leather you refine.

Making money

Best route: sell wanted cloth, leather, replacement nets or quality clothing to players, preferably through existing orders or commissions. Outfitting has no daily crafting writ and should not be treated as a routine low-tier NPC-gold craft.

Rank Route Cost Quality advantage What pays for it
0 Cloth, nets and specific clothing orders A Fishing-Net takes 2 Linen Bolts; small garments can take just 1 — A confirmed buyer; the 50-gold craft fee still applies
10 Leather and Wool supply Normal curing/spinning generally spend 2 matching hides or furs per output — Compare raw hides with the processed sale price; bought Wool competes with 3-silver counter stock
50 Tailor and clean Linen clothing — At rank 50, a clean Linen stitch with Tailor gives 100% Masterwork before other modifiers A buyer for useful clothing bonuses, not just the quality label
55 Hardened Leather with Leatherworker — At rank 55 a clean stitch gives 80% Masterwork and 20% Superior Hardened pieces have a material quality step; all seven armour recipes use their listed leather amounts
65 Consistent Hardened Masterworks — At rank 65, clean work plus Leatherworker gives 100% Masterwork before other modifiers Make the requested piece and inspect its random bonuses

Quality guarantees assume you finish the activity cleanly. The material-step and specialisation do not guarantee a particular random enchantment or affix. A funded commission can name a material, pattern and minimum quality; keep your promise to what that request actually specifies.

Avoid crafting stock solely for NPC sale at a shop loom. These source examples use full-condition Standard pieces, default settings, shop quality 10 and Mercantile and Personality 50:

Piece Linen Bolts Craft fee (gold) NPC offer (gold)
Fishing-Net 2 50 48
Linen Formal Eodoric 2 50 32

The Fishing-Net is the highest offer among the tested carried recipes, yet sells below the craft fee before cloth costs. Better trading skills, different settings or a free home loom change the comparison; check your actual offer.

Tanner is a Hunting specialisation available at rank 50. It changes curing from two hides per leather to one. Bear Hides and Spider Silk may sell for more through their other uses.

Weavers’ cloth Price per bolt (silver)
Linen 2
Wool 3

Keep silver cloth purchases separate from gold station fees.

Woven cloth can qualify for first-time Outfitting XP even when its fibres were bought or looted. Repeat Enchanting XP has stricter origin requirements.

Property Amount
Linen Bolts used 3
Essence from disenchanting 7
Essence with Disenchanter 14

Compare a useful Masterwork’s player-sale offer before dismantling it. Account for Market fees when choosing between raw materials, processed goods and finished pieces.
