Mining
Mining supplies metal ore, gems and stone. Use a Pick-Axe on ore veins or boulders. Quarrying stone advances the same profession. Like other professions, Mining is online only.
Mining supplies Smithing with ore and gems, Building with stone and Mortar ingredients, and Provisioning with some metals and gems. Guild fortifications also use large quantities of stone and metal. If you plan to smith, gathering your own ore reduces material purchases.
See Gathering for shared gathering rules, tools, the Materials Bag and Stores.
Making money
Best silver route: use your daily Court allowance on valuable ore you can already supply, then fill ore, gem and stone buy orders. Best gold partnership: supply your own Smithing with Orichalcum for Orcish Helms; selling ore and crafting armour are different currency choices.
Fixed writ income
These are examples of valid posted quantities. A region must actually offer that material; you cannot choose a custom Court request. The three-delivery allowance is shared across the account and all Court gathering professions.
| Rank | Delivery | Silver paid | Keep in mind |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0 | 50 Iron | 60 | Use low-tier stock while your better ores are scarce |
| 25 | 30 Silver | 144 | Keep raw Silver for writs or jewellery; smelting changes its use |
| 40 | 30 Gold | 216 | Raw Gold also supplies jewellers |
| 70 | 20 Ebony, Adamantium or Orichalcum Ore | 336 | Compare the current player offer before spending rare ore |
For the same 20 Ebony Ore, excluding tithe:
| Route | Listed unit price (silver) | Net payment (silver) | Payment condition |
|---|---|---|---|
| Court writ | — | 336 | Paid immediately on delivery |
| Market listing | 18 | 338 | Requires a buyer |
| Market listing | 17 | 319 | Requires a buyer |
Market figures include normal listing and sale fees. The prices are comparison examples; they do not establish what current buyers will pay.
Where the extra earnings come from
- Mining 25: take a Motherlode when travel and competition allow it. A clean harvest gives 6–9 high-tier ore plus 10 actual silver, once per account daily. Do not count the ore's reference value as coins already earned.
- Mining 50: Deep Delver doubles ordinary dungeon ore from 2–3 to 4–6 per vein. Use witnessed dungeons if you intend to exceed the account's four-vein unwitnessed allowance. Diamonds are an occasional glint reward, not guaranteed on every vein. Prospector suits a surface route where locating veins is the larger delay.
- Mining 70: witnessed Orsinium Map/Wrothgarian surface veins supply Orichalcum. If your goal is NPC gold, compare keeping it for Orcish Helms with selling it to players; Smithing explains the tested return.
Compare the raw-ore offer with the ingot offer before smelting.
| Condition | Ore used | Ingots produced |
|---|---|---|
| Ordinary | 2 | 1 |
| Quartermaster at Smithing 100 | 2 | 2 |
A shop charges 50 gold per refining batch. Jewellers need unsmelted Silver and Gold; orders for Rough Stone require ordinary quarrying results. Compare Market fees before processing a large load.
