Herbalism — What grows where

A herb's rarity depends on where it grows. Root Tendrils, for instance, are common in a Swamp but uncommon in the Mountain Woods, where you need rank 10 and a Sickle to pick them. If you're after one herb in particular, find where it's common.

Patch counts are per map square per day. Swamps and rainforests offer shorter walks; Woodlands offer the widest variety.

Source Effect
Witnessed ground Required for rare herbs; about 1 patch in 5 there is rare
Marches Yield bonus on witnessed ground
Harvest Tide +25% yield for the week
Blight Tide −25% yield for the week

See Mining for witnessed-ground rules.

Herb reference values set writ payments. Player sale prices vary. Rarity is measured where the herb is most common.

Rarity Reference value (silver)
Common 1
Uncommon 2
Rare 5

Ginkgo Leaves and Black Poppy have a 2-silver value because they are uncommon in some climates, despite being rare elsewhere. White Rose, Golden Poppy and White Poppy have a 5-silver value.

Food Where found
Oranges Deserts, subtropics, swamps and rainforests
Apples Other climates
Mushrooms Any climate
Eggs Any climate

A search yields 1–3 pieces, with lower yields in deserts, mountains and subtropics, and in Woodlands during winter. Food keeps in Stores and has a 1-silver reference value; player sales still need a buyer.
