Fishing

Fishing supplies Raw Fish for cooking, with chances to catch Pearls, Slaughterfish and trophies. Use a Fishing-Net from the shore, in the water or from a ship. All catches are available from rank 0.

Raw Fish is used in cooking. Pearls are used in jewellery and potions, while Slaughterfish Scales can be cured into Hardened Leather. These provide uses for catches beyond selling ordinary fish.

Making money

Best repeatable route: fish witnessed sea water at dawn or dusk, land casts in schools, and sell Raw Fish, Pearls and Scales to the buyers who currently need them. Fishing has no Court writ, so it does not provide a fixed silver payment for each haul.

Rank Choice Income advantage Limit
0 Fish during 07:00–07:59 or 17:00–17:59 The bite wait falls from 5–30 s to 2.5–15 s A storm doubles these waits; hauling, travel and selling still take time
0 Land within 10 m of a school Adds 1 fish after the ordinary catch bonuses Only 40 school-bonus hauls per account daily
50 Netter Adds 2 fish per school-bonus haul: up to 80 extra fish across those 40 hauls Angler instead helps when you regularly miss the tug or fish beyond the school allowance
100 Pearl Diver or Deep-Sea Pearl Diver: 6% Pearl, 1% Scales; Deep-Sea: 4% Pearl, 2% Scales Both need witnessed sea water; neither improves trophy chance

A full net gives 50% more ordinary fish; the school's extra fish and a Slaughterfish's extra fish are added afterward. Reaching the school allowance does not stop normal fishing or the rare-find rolls. Trophies roll at 0.5% in any water and depend on decor buyers, so treat them as an extra rather than regular income.

At Master, compare the extra rare catches:

Choice Pearl chance Slaughterfish chance
Deep-Sea 4% 2%
Pearl Diver 6% 1%
Item Reference value (silver)
Pearl 9
Slaughterfish Scales 6
Raw Fish 1

Pearl Diver earns more when two Pearls have a greater net sale value than one Slaughterfish Scales plus one Raw Fish. Reference values favour Pearl Diver, but actual player offers can reverse the comparison.

Keep the fish for cooks and compare Scales with Tanner's leather conversion before processing. Ordinary curing spends two Scales per Hardened Leather; Tanner spends one. Move fresh fish into Stores promptly so a selling delay does not spoil it.

Include replacement nets in fishing costs.

Property Amount

Linen Bolts 2
Weavers’ price for both bolts 4 silver
Craft fee 50 gold

Compare this cost with the shop’s net offer. Sell catches in batches or fill buy orders after accounting for Market fees.
