Salvaging and reforging

The Mages Guild can salvage equipment into Welkynd Shards and improve eligible items. These services use shards and gold. The Enchanting profession offers a separate reforging option using Arcane Essence.

Service Effect Cost Yield
Salvage Breaks a piece into Welkynd Shards — Gives Magic 1, Rare 3, Legendary 8, Exalted 15
Reforge Replace one eligible bonus on an identified item with a random bonus of a different kind; techniques cannot be replaced Magic 2 shards + 100 gold; Rare 4 + 400 gold; Exalted 10 + 2,000 gold. Doubles each time on the same piece —
Hone Improve an existing bonus, including a weapon technique, within its rarity range; the result cannot be lower Magic 1 + 50 gold; Rare 2 + 150 gold; Exalted 4 + 500 gold. Doubles each time —
Imprint Give an identified Rare item a recorded Legendary power; this does not copy an ordinary affix or weapon technique 20 shards + 5,000 gold —
Scrying Reveals the nearest undiscovered dungeon of a chosen family 3 shards + 500 gold —

Aetheric, Artifact and Gilded items cannot be salvaged or modified through these services. Reforge and Hone prices double with each repeat use on the same item.

For a chosen skill, use Enhances Skill at the item maker. Reforge cannot add or swap a weapon technique; Hone only raises an existing technique within its rarity limit. Salvage and disenchanting yield materials, not bonuses that can be transferred to another item.

The Codex

Open Collections to see the Legendary and Aetheric items you have found, their lore and their sources. Recorded Legendary powers can be used for Imprint on eligible Rare equipment. Imprint does not copy a weapon technique or an ordinary affix.

Welkynd Stones restore magicka; Varla Stones restore worn enchanted equipment. Mark unwanted items as junk to sell them together.
