Jewelcrafting
Jewelcrafting is the jewellery-making part of Smithing. It uses a jeweller's bench and advances Smithing rather than a separate profession.
The bench's act is the facet. A stone turns slowly and you stop it as it reaches the light, 3 times for a plain piece and 5 for a gemmed one. Let a facet go round twice and it's lost. Willpower and Luck widen the window, and so does reaching Master.
| Jewellery | Smithing rank |
|---|---|
| Silver | 0 |
| Cloth Amulet | 0 |
| Gold | 25 |
| Platinum | 55 |
A Cloth Amulet uses a Linen Bolt and a gem. Silver veins require Mining 25, so new jewellers often buy Silver.
Jewellery has high enchantment capacity, making it useful for the item maker and for disenchanting. These are the materials for each recipe:
| Piece | Needs |
|---|---|
| Amulet | 2 metal, 1 gem |
| Torc | 3 metal |
| Ring | 1 metal, gem optional |
| Bracelet | 2 metal |
| Bracer | 2 metal, 1 Cured Leather |
| Wand | 2 Ironwood or Ghostwood Planks, 1 gem |
| Mark | 1 metal, 1 gem |
| Cloth Amulet | 1 Linen Bolt, 1 gem |
Gold, Platinum and gems increase a piece’s enchantment capacity. Put gems from your pack into Stores at the bench before crafting.
| Condition | Effect |
|---|---|
| Transferred looted gem | Finished piece can sell for gold, but cannot be listed for silver |
| Superior quality | Magic bonuses |
| Masterwork quality | Rare bonuses |
Eligible Rare pieces can receive item-maker powers, and crafted pieces can be disenchanted for Essence. Crafting with a gem is separate from adding a socket gem later.
