Homes — Renting rooms
Owners can offer separate rooms in an online home for other players to rent. A tenant pays in advance, can enter while the tenancy runs and can rest in the rented home. Rental days are real days, not days passed by resting in the game.
Rental limits
| Rule | Type | Limit | Application |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rooms offered by one home | Owner | 8 | The interior must actually contain separate detected rooms. |
| Daily rent | Owner | 1–10,000 gold | Chosen for each offered room. |
| Initial booking choices | Tenant | 1, 3, 7, 14 or 30 days | The full chosen period is paid in advance. |
| Advance rental period | Tenant | 30 days from now | An extension must stay inside this limit. |
| Rented rooms held | Tenant | 3 per character | Counts active rentals. |
| Renting your own account's home | Tenant | Not allowed | Another character on the same account is still an owner. |
Offer a room
- Open Decorate in your home and select the rooms view.
- Choose a detected room, set its daily price and offer it for rent.
- Let prospective tenants find the home's front door and choose a free offered room.
- Collect the rent from the rooms controls when payment is waiting.
A one-room house has no separate room to offer. A catalogue door fitted into a free doorway can divide the detected rooms; see Decorating. Room tabs are based on the actual walls and doors. Moving a door can change the room layout, so check existing offers after changing it.
Book or renew a room
At the front door, choose the room and booking length, check the quoted total and confirm. Payment uses the purse and Bank of the Empire account together. An active tenant can enter even if the owner later restricts the home's general door setting.
The total is the room's daily price multiplied by the number of days. These examples use an illustrative price of 100 gold per day, not a fixed market rent.
| Booking length | Type | Example daily rent (gold) | Example total (gold) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 day | Booking | 100 | 100 |
| 3 days | Booking | 100 | 300 |
| 7 days | Booking | 100 | 700 |
| 14 days | Booking | 100 | 1,400 |
| 30 days | Booking | 100 | 3,000 |
Renewal adds days to the current expiry. Only durations that leave the tenancy at most 30 days ahead are offered. A room already paid 30 days ahead cannot be extended until some time has passed.
Withdraw rooms and collect rent
| Situation | Result |
|---|---|
| Owner withdraws an empty offer | It stops being offered to new tenants. |
| Owner withdraws an occupied room | The paid tenancy continues to its expiry, but cannot be renewed. |
| Tenant's paid period expires | Rental access and the right to rest end unless renewed. |
| Rent is waiting | It remains held on the home until an owning character collects it. |
| An owner collects rent | The collecting character receives it through the Bank of the Empire account where applicable. |
| An active tenancy exists | The home cannot be sold or transferred while it runs. |
Renting grants neither decoration rights nor automatic access to every storage container or station. Those have separate owner-set permissions. See Home stations and Buying for service access and sale conditions.
