Hired traders
A hired trader is an indoor home decoration licensed to sell your goods to visitors. The licence costs 25,000 gold once. Each stock listing lasts 30 real days; the licence itself does not expire after 30 days.
Set up and stock a trader
- Place an ordinary catalogue decoration inside your home. A decorative person can provide the trader's appearance, but a figure alone is not a working shop.
- Assign Hired trader to the piece, review the licence payment and Confirm.
- Leave decorating, interact with the trader and list eligible items from your pack at gold prices.
- Choose front-door access that lets intended customers enter. Visitors buy at the trader inside the home.
The Notice Board's Vendors tab searches by item, owner or town and can set a waypoint to the home. Trader stock is bought at the trader, rather than being an ordinary listing on the regional Market tab. Sale proceeds are collected with Collect into your bank here at a Notice Board. They enter the bank account for that board's region. Each sale deducts a 1% fee, rounded up with a minimum of 1 gold, and 5% tax. See Market fees for net returns.
Licence and stock limits
| Rule | Type | Value | Application |
|---|---|---|---|
| Licence | Setup | 25,000 gold | Paid for the assigned trader piece. |
| Decoration | Setup | Its separate placement cost | The licence does not include the underlying piece. |
| Placement | Setup | Inside an online home | A yard, ship or caravan is not a home trader location. |
| Currency | Stock | Gold | Trader stock uses gold prices. |
| Listing life | Stock | 30 real days | Applies to each listing. |
| Open trader stock | Stock | 60 listings per account | Shared across that account's traders, not 60 new slots for each trader. |
| Licence refund | Refund | 0 gold | Removing the piece or selling the home does not return the licence fee. |
| Transfer with stock open | Ownership | Blocked | Clear open trader listings before transferring the home. |
Townsfolk purchases
NPC patrons can buy eligible listings, but a low price does not guarantee a sale. Their offer ceiling uses the item's assessed worth, which can differ from its template's base value or your production cost.
| Purchase rule | Limit |
|---|---|
| Maximum asking price eligible for NPC purchase | 60% of assessed worth, rounded down. |
| All traders in one town | At most 4 NPC purchases per hour. |
| Each seller | At most 2 NPC purchases per hour. |
| Each seller's NPC income | At most 20,000 gold per real day. |
| Actual sale price | The listing's asking price, if bought. |
The chance below is the listing's hourly selection chance before competing listings and the purchase limits are applied. The NPC offer ceiling is 60% of assessed worth, rounded down first.
| Asking price relative to NPC ceiling | Type | Hourly selection chance |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 50% of the ceiling | Eligible | 25% |
| Over 50%, up to 75% of the ceiling | Eligible | 12% |
| Over 75%, up to 100% of the ceiling | Eligible | 5% |
| Above the ceiling | Ineligible | 0% |
For an item assessed at 100 gold, the NPC ceiling is 60 gold. These calculated examples exclude competing listings and purchase limits:
| Asking price (gold) | Hourly selection chance | Seller receives (gold) |
|---|---|---|
| 30 | 25% | 28 |
| 45 | 12% | 42 |
| 60 | 5% | 56 |
The seller's return subtracts the rounded 1% fee and 5% tax. These chances do not promise a sale or an hourly income. Eligibility rules exclude some special, quest or otherwise restricted items.
