Court sentences

Each unit of the sentence is a coin flip between a 40-gold fine and 3 days in prison.
You may plead guilty, which halves the sentence, or argue with Etiquette or Streetwise. Higher legal standing, Personality and the relevant skill improve your chance.
Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood members may be rescued from court.
After you serve a sentence, lesser crimes are cleared in full. Assault, murder, treason and high treason leave half as a lasting mark.
