Homes
Homes give you a permanent place to decorate, keep belongings, install Home stations and offer rooms to other players. An online home belongs to your account: your other characters can enter and manage a purchased home too. The building is exclusive to one owner across the online world.
What you can do at home
| Feature | Type | What it provides | Reference |
|---|---|---|---|
| Buy a house | Ownership | Claim an available house at its front door. | Buying |
| Furnish the interior | Decorating | Place catalogue decorations, delivered furniture and eligible items you own. | Decorating |
| Decorate the yard | Decorating | Furnish the marked lot outside your home within its separate placement limits. | Decorating |
| Change the exterior | Decorating | Choose the walls, windows, roof and door appearance. | Decorating |
| Store belongings | Storage | Turn an eligible decoration into a container and choose who may use it. | Decorating |
| Install a station | Crafting | Pay a licence for one placed piece to serve a craft. | Home stations |
| Run a shop | Trading | Stock a licensed trader with gold-priced goods for visitors. | Hired traders |
| Let rooms | Renting | Offer separate rooms at a daily price and collect the rent. | Renting rooms |
Ownership and access
The purchase limit is three homes per character in each region, rather than three homes in total. Other characters on the account can use those homes, but do not change the buying character’s per-region limit. Deleting the buying character releases its purchased homes, even though the account's other characters could use them. A house awarded to a knight and a guild's hall have their own ownership rules.
| Door setting | Who may enter |
|---|---|
| Private | The owning account. This is the default for a new purchase. |
| Party | The owning account and the owner's party. |
| Guild | The owning account and eligible guildmates. |
| Public | Anyone. |
A tenant with an active room rental can enter even when the general door setting would keep them out. Permission to enter is separate from permission to open a container or use a station; set those permissions on the individual decoration.
Online and offline homes
| Home | Ownership | Decoration record | Purchase price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Purchased online home | Shared by the owning account; one owner for that building online. | Kept online so visitors see the furnished home. | Footprint and town size; see Buying. |
| Offline house | Belongs to the offline save. | Kept in the save. | Daggerfall's house pricing. |
| Owned ship interior | Belongs to its owner under the ship's rules. | Its interior can be decorated; furniture is kept with the relevant save or online record. | See Ships. |
Buying a house offline does not reserve that building online. Online purchases, decoration changes and rentals can draw on the Bank of the Empire account; see Banks. Check the confirmation before paying or selling.
Available homes can be bought beyond the Bay, in the Imperial City Map, elsewhere in Cyrodiil Map and in towns on Eltheric Ocean Map islands. The Imperial City Map’s castle is not an ordinary home for sale.
