Graphics backend (Windows desktop)
The Windows desktop app offers Direct3D 11 and Vulkan under Settings → Graphics → Display → Graphics backend. Restart the app for a change to take effect.
| Backend | Window backdrop blur | Wait For Screen Refresh |
|---|---|---|
| Direct3D 11 | Enabled | Uses the selected setting |
| Vulkan | Disabled; windows keep their dark background | Kept on |
Direct3D 11 is the default. Vulkan can prepare graphics faster at the first launch after an update, although in-game performance can be slower. Performance depends on the graphics card.
If Vulkan cannot start correctly, the app explains the failure and restarts with Direct3D 11. It can retry Vulkan after a driver update or an app update that changes the graphics engine. The browser keeps its usual graphics path and backdrop blur.
